Session Description
This session will provide an overview of the implementation and formal evaluation of the Health Access Fund, an innovative program aimed at addressing transportation barriers through the utilization of ride share technology. In partnership with Uber Health and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), 27 organizations across the country in both urban and rural settings spent two years utilizing ride share technology through Uber and other transportation resources to schedule flexible rides for their patients, clients, and staff, helping them get to health-related appointments, SDOH-related essential services, and client visits. Panelists will describe implementation successes and challenges as well as the impacts of the program on participating organizations and end beneficiaries.

By providing reliable, user-friendly transportation to needed services, the HAF saved clients’ time and increased kept appointments; The HAF helped organizations address clients’ transportation needs, establish trainings and workflows, and free up resources to improve transportation support offerings; Many types of organizations are well positioned to utilize ride share technology to provide flexible transportation options for patients and clients as a means of driving greater health equity.
