Session Description
Older adults aging in affordable housing face challenges: Their fixed incomes may make it difficult to keep up with the rising costs of rent, food, transportation, and medical care. Concerns about personal safety may limit their comfort in travelling away from home and online and telemarketing scams, as well as a lack of access to or lack of comfort in using technology may make telehealth not a viable alternative.
During this session, senior staff from Maryland-based affordable housing owner-operators will share the strategies they use to bring place-based care to their older adult residents. By working with local healthcare partners to bring back medical house calls, they provide preventive care and health screenings where people live… just like it used to be.
